27th July – 27th August
Scotland’s biggest annual celebration of visual art, the Edinburgh Art Festival brings together the capital’s leading galleries, museums and artist-run spaces alongside new public art commissions and an innovative programme of special events.
3rd – 26th August
Formerly the Edinburgh Digital Entertainment Festival, FuturePlay is a festival which celebrates, explores and showcases cutting-edge creative content and ideas at the intersection of art and technology.

4th – 5th August
Witness an epic outdoor spectacle as St Andrew Square is transformed into a magical night garden through light and sound installations and large-scale projections. Buildings burst into life – immersing you in a fast moving world of colour, texture and sound.
4th – 6th August
The UK’s largest food and drink festival returns to Edinburgh’s Inverleith Park bringing fun for all the family – with live music, free yoga classes, demonstrations from celebrity chefs, and delicious street food showcasing the best local produce.

Now in its 70th year and still unparalleled in its celebration of the performing arts, the Edinburgh International Festival presents some of the finest performers and ensembles from the worlds of dance, opera, music and theatre.

Seventy years since the birth of the world’s largest platform for freedom of expression, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe opens the doors, streets and alleyways of an entire city to an explosion of creative energy around the globe.

Iconic and spectacular, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a display of music, dance and precision. With nearly a thousand performers taking part, expect an unforgettable night of stirring performances against the backdrop of a floodlit Edinburgh Castle.
12th – 28th August
As the largest and most dynamic of its kind, the Edinburgh International Book Festival is a key event in the city’s festival calendar. Held in the beautiful and historic Charlotte Square Gardens, the festival provides a unique forum in which audience and author can meet.

26th August – 3rd September
The Edinburgh Mela is a wonderfully inclusive festival, celebrating the true diversity of our city through music, dance and the arts. It welcomes people from all ages and backgrounds to promote the mutual understanding between our changing and diverse communities.
Set against the backdrop of Edinburgh’s historic Castle, the spectacular Virgin Money Fireworks Concert brings Edinburgh’s Summer festival season to a close, with stirring orchestral music from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and magnificent pyrotechnics.
