5 Things to do in Edinburgh this Summer

Take advantage of the sun while it's here!

25 . 06 . 2018

When the sun is shining there is little better to do than exploring the beautiful Auld Reekie.

The Scottish Summer is very similar to our national animal: the unicorn. It is a beautiful and powerful beast that blesses all who see it – but finding it can be a challenge. Edinburgh blooms into life under the sweltering sunshine, making the summer one of the greatest times to visit the capital city. Here are 5 activities we greatly recommend doing under the blue skies.

 1) Explore Edinburgh Castle

It’s no secret that the dramatic setting of Edinburgh Castle, situated on top of Castle Rock, is one of the most iconic sights in Edinburgh. Built on top of a 700 million year old extinct volcano, the castle has been around since at least the 12th century and is now one of the major tourist attractions. Although it makes a fantastic day out in any and all weathers, we really recommend you spend a few hours here during the summer. There are plenty of outdoor areas so you can even catch the rays while you explore.

2) Take a walk around Inverleith Park

Edinburgh is full of beautiful walks in and out of the sun, but we think that the popular Inverleith Park is worth a visit during the summer. The park hosts over 400 events a year, and even has 3 football, 4 rugby and 6 seven-a-side pitches. There is also a children’s play park making it the perfect family day out. You can even take in a view while you sunbathe – from certain parts of the park you can get a view of the entire skyline, including the castle and Arthur’s Seat. Simply look for the hordes of fellow sunbathers to find the best places.

3) Go on a Running Tour
