The celebrations commence with the arrival of the East Princes Street Market (18th Nov – 16th Jan). With over 100 individual stalls selling everything from traditional crafts to delicious street food; the markets are a great place to pick up some truly unique gifts or enjoy a piping hot mug of mulled wine. Then there is the return of the hugely popular Light Night (19th Nov), with music, family entertainment and a predicted audience of 20,000. This year it’s up to Call the Midwife actress, Laura Main, to kick off festivities as Edinburgh officially lights up for Christmas.
