When planning a business lunch research is important; the wrong location can easily ruin a client’s impression of you!

Let’s face it; the meeting room just isn’t as exciting as it used to be. You and the person you’re meeting tomorrow at 1pm are both politely discussing (see: arguing) who’s getting to see the city and get a fresh of breath air on their way to their meeting. Why not make it both of you? With so many delicious restaurants and quirky cafes, there is no shortage of options for your next business lunch in Edinburgh. As big fans of lunch meetings, we’ve taken the time to enjoy a lot of them and have pulled together our top picks.

Ideal for: A casual catch up over coffee.

Loudons is a great choice if you’re looking for a coffee or bite to eat in the West end. The laid-back atmosphere has made it an ever-popular establishment with the locals. Serving breakfast, lunch, homemade cakes and artisan coffees, they pride themselves on using natural ingredients and catering for all types of dietary requirements, including vegan and gluten-free options.

The varied menu gives you the choice of fresh juices, hot drinks, a snack or lunch. This allows plenty of versatility regarding the type and duration of meetings that you can have here. We’d recommend Loudons for catching up with a client over a casual coffee. Although Loudons can be busy, the buzz of chatter creates a surprisingly intimate meeting space, preventing any awkward silences.

Ideal for: Morning or evening meetings.

A Swedish bar that can host up to 300 people for events and has a fabulous beer garden for warm weather might not seem like an obvious choice for your next business meeting, but there’s something about Akva that makes it the perfect setting.

From the incredibly friendly staff to the delicious menu (featuring not only Swedish food but light bites and burgers alike), Akva is a great choice. The spacious and airy feel inside the restaurant allows for a comfortable and laid back meeting space.

Meeting in Akva at around 10am or 2pm will give you a quiet environment for your meeting, but don’t be afraid to hold off until 5pm if you want a livelier atmosphere.

From Kerjriwal to Keema per Eedu, there will be no shortage of talking points as you explore their menu together.
