Green Attractions Edinburgh Scotland

Edinburgh is has a very self contained city centre making it very easy to get around on foot. Our reception team can provide you with maps and information on what to do and see in the city and it's outskirts. Below are some links with more information on attractions in and around Edinburgh which have the Green Business Tourism Award.

Edinburgh Castle - Perched on an extinct volcano, this instantly recognisable fortress is a powerful national symbol and part of Old and New Towns of Edinburgh World Heritage Site. Its story is Scotland's story

Linlithgow Palace - The birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, a majestic royal palace of the Stewarts at Linlithgow today lies roofless and ruined. Yet the visitor still feels a sense of awe on entering its gates. It became a truly elegant 'pleasure palace', and a welcome stopping-place for the royal family along the busy road linking Edinburgh Castle and Stirling Castle. Linlithgow is only a 20 minute train journey from Haymarket.

Gladstones Land - View six display rooms furnished with objects of the period, including an original painted ceiling, to give you a flavour of life in the 17th century. Discover the differences between 17th and 18th century living standards with our recently upgraded Green Room.

Scottish Whisky Heritage Centre - Take a barrel ride as you become part of the whisky making process. From the fields of barley all the way through the distillery equipment to the bubbling Pot Still. Experience the aromas of our regional whiskies - whether you like fruity, sweet or smoky flavours our experts will help select your perfect dram.

There are also tour companies who will take you to locations out of town. These include Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond, and the Cairngorms National Park.

Rosslyn Chapel - positioned on a small hill above Roslin Glen, founded in the mid 15th Century, is a popular destination, not in the least because of its feature in Dan Brown's popular novel, the Da Vinci Code.

Rabbies Trail Burners - Tours include Loch Ness, St Andrews and the Scottish Borders.

Haggis Tours - This company specialise in 3 day tours and longer to the North and the Isles of Scotland.
