Scotland is the home of golf - enjoy a round of one of the many Edinburgh golf courses

Edinburgh Golf Guide

Golf

Everyone knows that Scotland is the home of golf. But not everyone knows that the world's first ever club was formed in Scotland, The Royal Burgess in 1734.

Edinburgh is only a two hour drive from Turnberry, the venue for the 2009 British Open and is the perfect location for playing some great golf courses.  Maybe include a round at Muirfield as it's only 35 minutes drive or perhaps one of the city courses such as The Merchants Golf Club which is close to the city centre or to the south of the city there's Lothianburn Golf Club.

In addition St Andrews is only an 90 minute drive!

An apartment is perfect for travelling groups.  You  have the space to dine together, plan the next day's golfing, or store your clubs.  And during a great Scottish summer you can even wash and dry clothes ready for the next day.

Golf continues to be a great draw in Edinburgh and there are literally dozens of golf courses in and around the city. Details of courses run by Edinburgh Council can be found at edinburghleisure.co.uk/webpages/golf.php.

For private golf clubs, a good place to start is golf.visitscotland.com.
